Osteochondroma-Related Distal Tibiofibular Synostosis with an Isolated Subtalar Joint Degeneration and Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon Entrapment

چکیده

Osteochondroma is the most common benign tumor or tumorlike lesion of bone. The radiographic appearance is often diagnostic, that is, a lesion composed of cortical and medullary bone with a cartilage cap. These lesions may be solitary or multiple, with the latter associated with the syndrome HME. Complications are commonly associated with its exophytic nature and include cosmetic and osseous deformity, fracture, vascular compromise, neurologic sequelae, overlying bursa formation, and malignant transformation. These complications are more common in patients with multiple lesions (HME) rather than solitary osteochondromas [1]. Although related complications are mostly about the exophytic nature of tumor itself, we present a case of distal tibiofibular synostose via an osteochondroma in a HME patient that was complicated with subtalar joint degeneration and flexor hallucis longus tendon entrapment, being the first case in literature.

Interposition of the flexor hallucis longus tendon through the subtalar joint as a late complication of pediatric clubfoot repair: a case report.

Interposition of the flexor hallucis longus tendon through the subtalar joint was identified intraoperatively during a triple arthrodesis for a symptomatic adult clubfoot in a patient who had a posteromedial release as a child. The mechanism for this occurrence is unknown, although it is likely that the flexor hallucis longus tendon deviated into the subtalar joint during the early postoperativ...

Is there a role for lengthening flexor hallucis and flexor digitorum longus tendons in surgery for club foot?: a preliminary report.

Most cases of club foot (congenital talipes equinovarus) respond to non-operative treatment but resistant cases may need surgery. It is broadly accepted that lengthening of tendo Achillis, the tendon of tibialis posterior and capsulotomy of the ankle and subtalar joints are necessary during surgical release, but there is no consensus as to whether lengthening of the tendons of flexor hallucis l...

Stenosing Tenosynovitis of the Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon Associated with the Plantar Capsular Accessory Ossicle at the Interphalangeal Joint of the Great Toe

This report presents a case of stenosing tenosynovitis of the flexor hallucis longus tendon associated with the plantar capsular accessory ossicle at the interphalangeal joint of the great toe, which was confirmed by intraoperative observation and was successfully treated with surgical resection of the ossicle. As the plantar capsular accessory ossicle was not visible radiographically due to th...

Transplantation with allograft for rupture of the flexor hallucis longus tendon with subsequent longitudinal tear of the flexor digitorum longus tendon at the master knot of Henry: a case report.

A rare case of closed complete rupture of the flexor hallucis longus tendon with subsequent longitudinal tear of the flexor digitorum longus tendon is reported in a marathon runner. This is also a first case report of flexor hallucis longus transplant with cadaveric posterior tibial tendon allograft. Two minimal incisions distal and proximal to the malleolus allowed for tunneling with urethral ...

Significance of variations in the interconnection between flexor digitorum longus and flexor hallucis longus of the lower limb

Introduction Flexor digitorum longus, flexor hallucis longus and tibialis posterior are the three deep muscles of the posterior compartment of the leg. Flexor digitorum longus arises from the posterior surface of tibia below the soleal line medial to tibialis posterior, and by a broad tendon from the fibula, then courses deep to the flexor retinaculum in the tarsal tunnel to enter the sole of f...
